Stratford Box
Diaphragm walls on this project involved in excess of 12,100 tonnes of reinforcement and the mechanical splice element was a major consideration involving 47,000 couplers, requiring a dedicated facility to meet programme demands.
The facility set up for the vast quantities of couplers in the Stratford contracts eventually became a fully functional prefabrication factory supplying all prefabricated elements, re-detailed and engineered for CTRL 835 and other projects.
In addition the facility supplying prefabricated diaphragm wall panels to the associated CTRL 220 project has now evolved into a new factory supplying all modular prefabricated assemblies to various projects including another diaphragm wall contract for Cementation Piling and Foundations, the contractor for Stratford Box.
These contracts collectively resulted in the largest diaphragm wall project undertaken in the UK and set the standard for all similar projects.
